Dr. Barbara Davenport (Biographical Sketch)

Barbara Davenport

Barbara is the wife of Dr. Scott Davenport, and the mother of two young adults, Moshe’ and Tereka. Barbara was born in Monroe, Louisiana and attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe, receiving a B.A. in Elementary Education. She holds a M.S. in Psychology and Counseling and has a PhD in Christian Counseling Psychology and is a Certified Christian Counselor with over 18 hours in Art Therapy.

With over 35 years in the teaching profession for local Houston area school districts, Barbara has been a mentor teacher and has served on numerous committees on her campus. Barbara was voted “Teacher of the Year” for her campus for 2001-2002.

Barbara has taught on the staff of International Christian University and has also served as associate professor at Texas Institute of Biblical Studies (TIBS). Some of the courses, which she has taught include parenting, biblical study courses as well as classes dealing with relationships before marriage along with the marriage relationship.

Barbara and her husband, Scott conduct sessions for married andengaged couples called “Preventative Maintenance: A Marriage Tune Up and “ICE” (Intensive Care Encounters) Weekends” for couples experiencing serious marital problems. She and Scott have been guests on “Houston Celebration” a Daystar TV show on numerous occasions. Barbara has a sincere heart for husbands and wives who desire to see the faithfulness of God exhibited through their marriages and families. The healthy, stable family is an important part of God’s kingdom and Barbara feels that equipping the family for daily challenges is vital in daily living. She also specializes in working with youth (ages 3-18) in developing strategies, which allow them to be strong, confident and able to face their challenges in school and social situations.
